If health is a state of harmony between body and mind, then the causes of illness, ailments and disease will often be complex syntheses of seemingly unrelated factors, not isolated symptoms or pathogens.

While genes may create the foundation for a condition, lifestyle or environment often are the key to unlocking health. By focusing on these root causes, we can open the door to a healthier, more vital way of living.

  1. Poor Diet and Nutritional Deficiencies:

Food is the foundation of good health: a nutrient-poor diet doesn’t provide the material your body needs to function at its best.

Factors Contributing to Poor Diet:

  • Processed Foods: Highly processed foods tend to have too much sugar, unhealthy fats and artifical additives and too little vitamins, minerals and fibre.
  • Sugar Overload: High sugar intake leads to inflammation and insulin-resistance, weight gain and a slew of chronic diseases.
  • Unhealthy fats: Eating too many trans fats and saturated fats can raise cholesterol levels and increase the risk for heart disease.
  • Empty calories: Sugary drinks, alcohol, and other beverages that have few or no nutritional benefits lead to weight gain and nutrient deficiencies.
  • Soil Depleted of Nutrients: Modern agricultural practices may deplete the soil of nutrients, resulting in produce that is lacking in nutrients.
  1. Heavy Metal and Chemical Pollution:

Our modern environment is full of environmental toxins that can build up in our bodies and disrupt cellular function.

Sources of Toxic Exposure:

  • It is well known that air pollution encompasses several factors such as exhaust fumes, industrial emissions, and aerosols that account for the undesirable contamination of the air we need to sustain life with heavy metals and/or chemicals.
  • Water Contamination: wastewater from industry and agriculture, as well as plastic waste, can introduce heavy metals and chemicals into our water.
  • From food contaminants to pesticides, herbicides and heavy metals, we are all unwittingly exposed to environmental toxins all around.
  • Household chemicals Contributes to air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution This is because people use many cleaning products, personal hygiene products and many others which contain toxic chemicals.

My suggestion would be for people to switch to more natural products.

If people don’t switch, there will be serious medical issues in the future because these chemicals can cause cancers.

Overall, I believe people should switch sooner rather than later.

Personally, I’m planning to quit buying all other products without natural ingredients. I hope other people will follow my example.

Occupational Hazards: Certain professions expose individuals to heavy metals, chemicals, and other hazardous substances.

  1. Chronic Dehydration:

Chronic dehydration has a significant effect on one’s health because water is essential for life.

Consequences of Dehydration:

  • Impaired Cellular Function: It is needed for moving nutrients in, and our trash out, and for regulating body temperature.
  • Reduced Energy Levels: Dehydration can lead to fatigue, headaches, and difficulty concentrating.
  • Digestive Issues: Water is crucial for proper digestion and elimination.
  • Risk of Kidney Stones: Dehydration increases the rate of calcium and other mineral crystallisation in urine.
  1. Chronic Malnutrition from “Dead Food”:

We might still be malnourished if those calories are from refined foods devoid of most vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients.

Causes of Malnutrition:

  • Overconsumption of Processed Foods: Processed foods often lack the nutrients of whole foods.
  • Nutrient-Depleted Soil: Modern agricultural practices can deplete the soil of essential nutrients.
  • Poor Gut Health: An unhealthy gut microbiome can impair nutrient absorption.

Taking Control of Your Health:

Understanding the root causes of illness and disease is the first step to preventing suffering and promoting good health. Here are some of the ways we can take action on this whether we are experiencing an ailment or want to maintain our health and wellness:

  • Adopting a nutrient-rich, whole-foods diet.
  • Minimizing exposure to environmental toxins.
  • Staying hydrated.
  • Supporting gut health.
  • Managing stress levels.
  • Engaging in regular physical activity.
